Brief but important reminders…

First of all, thank you guys for the awesome attendance to the last meeting - as you all may have noticed, in just two meetings, we’ve already grown out of comfortable seating capacity for 202. Don’t let that stop you from inviting more people, however, because we’ll soon be finding a new, more commodious location at which to host our meetings. The next meeting will be at the same time in the same place (10PM Wednesday, Sverdrup 202) for consistency’s sake, but don’t be surprised if we migrate the following week.

A reminder to everyone interested in membership, including those who are unable to attend the meetings on a regular basis, we will start collecting the agreed $20 semesterly membership fee as of the next meeting. The group at the last meeting was in concurrence that it is still appropriate to pay this semester’s fee in spite of our late start, simply to help the group get on its feet for the rest of the semester as well as the summer, during which time we are hoping to really get a lot done. The collective fees are very important, so please get that to one of the officers (preferably Jeremy, our new treasurer) as soon as you can. Thank you all for your cooperation with this - every bit helps.

On another note, we are still very interested in putting on an interactive media and animation showcase by the end of the semester. In other words, start thinking about things you’d like to submit, because we want to show off as diverse of a group as possible and really get our talents seen. We’ll start working out details for this in the coming weeks, but please do begin to at least consider the submission of your personal or school projects or shorts. The more content we have, the more likely we are to get this thing to happen. Also, don’t forget about the Rube Goldberg contest - it’s never too soon to start working on it!

A note to all 3D artists, as Joel mentioned in the previous post, we need to find volunteers to model the new animation department exactly how we need it. We’ve had a few people interested in working on the project (which is FANTASTIC, thank you guys!), but the more people we have working on it, the faster it will go. The faster it goes, the sooner we’ll be able to start actually getting the equipment in there. If that’s not motivation enough, I don’t know what is.

Thanks again, everyone! I look forward to seeing all of you again (and hopefully more.. bring friends!) on Wednesday.

-Carol
