SIGGRAPH BBQ Sat. April 26 @ Joels

Hey all!!

Just a reminder the Spring BBQ is at my place this weekend.

There is another post about what I am providing and what (if anything) people are bringing.

Bring a friend and something to eat/drink/share (if you want).

OK to come without bringing anything too!

All Websterites welcome. We will be starting things at about 3pm, eats at 5:30ish.

My phone is 314-962-6525

BTW We have set up so that we can accomodate the weather if everything has to be inside.

Also, if anyone wants to hook up a second Xbox or Wii bring one along. We have 5 locations set up for video gaming around the house (3 open if someone brings systems)

I am at 571 W. Lockwood Ave. just a few blocks from campus. My house is between Jackson and Algonquin on Lockwood just down the street from Bread Co., Straubs, SanSai…

SIGGRAPH Recomendations

Just to let you know I have gotten requests for recommendations for 8 of you from SIGGRAPH for SV work. The following students have received recs from me so far. Good Luck! to all of you, and for those of you who are not SVs start asking your relatives, friends, deans, student government assoc., etc. to get the funds to make the trip.

Think of it as a class that has very direct and significant impact on your careers and lives. The costs are similar and the value is clear.

The following are students that I have written recs for.

Sam Mosely
Shanese Williams
Amanda Walker
Nick Rose
Tim Latham
Leah Bend
Zach Haugen
Esma Dautovic

3D Opportunity

An indie filmmaker is working on a historical documentary about a 19th century African female writer. Part of the documentary will require CG and green screening and all that.
She is in search for an intern who would do some of the animation.
Her name is Rukayat and her e-mail address is umm_maryam1@yahoo.com
Can you please let your 3D students know and touch base with her? It’s a great real-world opportunity and I think that she’s in LA but not sure.

Thanks

SIGGRAPH Fall BBQ OCT 13 @ Joels 571 W. Lockwood

Hey all!!

Just a reminder the Fall BBQ is at my place this weekend.

I am going with a Mexican theme so there will be all kinds of meats, veggies, cheeses, tortillas, shells etc.

Bring a friend and something to eat/drink/share. If you have a favorite salsa or guac that would be great, but it doesn’t have to match with the theme.

Fjorg Animations

Hey all! I just wanted to let everybody know that the Fjorg animations are up on YouTube.

I found the MOVs on Siggraphs Web Site as well as a retrospective at http://www.siggraph.org/s2007/attendees/fjorg/

***** San Diego Trip ****

Remember to write up your thoughts about your conference experiences to pass on to the dean and myself. You don’t have to write a novel, just a page or two about what you did, what you got out of it and the experience generally.

Thanks.
