I talked to Emily Schmutz today who is one of the people working on the Ampersand and they are desperate for submissions for the winter issue of the Ampersand. If you have any work, photography, illustrations, 3D renders, paintings, graphic designs, writing, anything submit it to ampersand@webster.edu

The Ampersand is a very fun way to get your work shown to the entire campus because Everyone at least picks up a free copy of the magazine. So submit stuff and see your work published!!!!

Hello Everyone,

I wanted to announce that I am running for the Vice President position in SIGGRAPH for the 2008-2009 school year. Currently I am a sophomore animation major who wants to see SIGGRAPH keep going in the positive direction that it is going now. Carol, Jen, and Leah have done a really great job in starting out our club and I want to keep that excellence going next year by being the Vice President. Already I am a very active member in our group by attending meetings, workshops, and submitting work for Kinematifest. I have also taken the time to get to know all of the officers and members of the SIGGRAPH group, and I am very familiar with how the current officers work. I am excited to work very hard to make sure that our club succeeds and I will give 110 % of myself to do so.

As a leader I have had much experience running meetings and events. For the past two years I have run the very successful video game tournament that SIGGRAPH is always involved in. I have learned planning and administrative skills from being a resident assistant and student representative. I am also willing to help anyone that has questions and if I don’t know the answer I will take them to the person that would know, and I am also willing to learn and adapt myself to whatever needs this position may have.

But beyond a leader I’m also just a fun person who loves animation, photography, visual design, writing, blogging , and rocking out to good music. I also love to play video games and hang out with friends and I feel like I am a very easy person to get to know.

I have been looking forward to getting a chance to help SIGGRAPH become a bigger and better presence on campus. Even if I am not elected I will still work hard to see that SIGGRAPH continues in the positive direction that our current rock star officers have started.

That’s right, this year the RHA Video Game Tournament is back and bigger than ever before!

This year the winner of the main event will receive a FREE 19inch Flat Screen LCD HDTV!!

This year’s main event will be……….GUITAR HERO III!!! So get on those guitars and start shredding, because the competition will be fierce!!!

The two other events will be (at this point), Super Smash Brothers Melee and Halo 3!!!

AND FEAR NOT,

If you don’t win the main event, you can still play in the other tournaments!!! You heard it, this year you can play in all the tournaments! However, if you are epic enough to win a tournament then you will be disqualified from the others.

Prizes for the other tournaments will be discounted systems, games, some DVD’s. And there will also be door prizes for those whose skills aren’t quite up to par.

Marletto’s will have pizza and soda available for purchase with your meal plans or points, or cash if that’s how you roll.

We are also looking for residents to donate video game equipment!!! This can be anything from systems, to games, controllers, memory cards, power cords, televisions, anything!!!

Last year we had A WHOLE LOT of equipment donated by residents and are looking to have just as much this year!!!

Ok so that is what I put on the facebook event. I just wanted to let you guys know about this awesome event on the 30th and how much I need SIGGRAPH’s help to pull it off. I know a lot of SIGGRAPH members donated equipment last year, and I am asking that you guys help me out by lending us your equipment again this year. Just follow the link to the surveymonkey site and fill her out. I’m also looking for workers to help us set up and tear down the tournament. Marletto’s closes at 7 on that Friday and the tournament starts at 8, so we only have an hour to set up!!!!

And to alleviate any fears, you can still play in the tournaments if you help us set up.

Ok so as you all know RHA/Campus Activities is throwing a video game tournament this saturday April 14th from 7:30pm-1:30am. As I said at the last few meetings.

I’m writing this to see if anyone one in the SIGGRAPH group would be willing to help set-up/tear-down the event. This would entail helping us haul the equipment up the Mareltto’s, setting everything up, and possibly tearing everything down. How its gonna work is as soon as Marletto’s closes on Saturday, around 6:30pm, we will get into Marletto’s and start moving everything and setting everything up as fast as possible. Since we only have an hour we need as much help as possible.

 If you are worried that you will not be able to play in the tournaments because you are helping out, don’t be. If you help out you can still play.

If anyone is interested in helping out, and please we need all the help we can get, or if you have any questions, just shoot me an email over to zmuh11@aol.com
